An investigation is under way after a stolen bank card was used in a shop in Sunderland.

Shortly after 10.15pm on November 1 last year, officers received a report of a theft at a premises in the Hylton Road area of the city.

Officers say a woman's bag which contained bank cards and tobacco had been stolen.

One of the stolen bank cards was used a short time later on the same evening in Uncle Sam’s convenience store, on St Luke’s Terrace.

A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: "An investigation has been launched into the incident and officers have now released the image of a man they would like to speak to.

"He was in Uncle Sam’s at the time that the stolen card was used and could have valuable information that can assist police with their enquiries.

"The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to call 101 quoting reference 1356 011119 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
