CCTV appeal after attack which left man with broken jaw and bleed on the brain

Police are investigating an attack which left a man with a broken jaw and a bleed on the brain at Four Lane Ends Metro Station.

At about 9.35pm on April 4, emergency services were contacted after a passer-by came across the 45-year-old victim who was unconscious and bleeding.

The man was taken to hospital, having sustained extensive injuries.

Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the assault and the identities of those involved.

Police are now asking anybody who witnessed the incident to come forward.

Officers are also keen to trace a male caught on CCTV in the area at the time of the assault.

Detective Constable Mark Thomson, of Northumbria Police, said: “This attack happened in a busy area and we are keen to speak to male spotted in the area at the time.

“We are committed to ensuring those responsible are brought to justice for their crimes. There is no place for violence on our streets and we are using every tactic at our disposal in order to get to the bottom of what happened.
