CCTV appeal after £500 stolen from woman in her 80s

A woman in her 80s had £500 stolen from her after her purse was taken and bank card used to withdraw cash.

Police in Bolton have now released CCTV images of two men they would like to speak to as part of an appeal for more information following the theft - which took place at the Tesco on Mansell Way, Horwich, on Monday, November 20.

They say two offenders approached the woman outside the Horwich supermarket and proceeded to follow her to the cash machine outside the store and watched as she entered her pin number and withdrew £200 in cash.

Greater Manchester Police for Bolton North said: "They have then followed the victim around the store before reaching into her handbag and stealing her purse.

"They have then left the store and at around 10.56am, withdrawn £200 cash using the victims card before making their way over to the nearby Poundland, where they further withdrew another £100 in cash from the cash machine within the store.

"The offenders also used the card to purchase train tickets and McDonalds."

Detectives would like to speak to the two people pictured in the CCTV images as part of their investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 on quoting log 1509 of the 20th November 2021, for the attention of PC 03393.
