CBSE schools have to update details of teachers on OASIS

Patna: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has asked the principals of the affiliated schools to update teachers’ information on OASIS (Online Affiliated Schools Information System) platform for the evaluation and examiner duty of Class X and XII board exams.

Addressing a meeting organized by Patliputra Sahodaya School Complex (a group of CBSE affiliated schools in Bihar) here in Patna, the CBSE regional officer (Bihar and Jharkhand), Jagdish Burman, on Saturday said if any school failed to update the details about teachers, a personal penalty of Rs50,000 will be charged from the principal and the board results of that school will also be withheld. “The teachers’ data on OASIS help the CBSE take their assistance in invigilation and evaluation duty. This initiative was taken after the Board noticed the shortage of teachers as examiners as school failed to update the details of their teaching staff,” Burman said.

He said the Board has several times put a teacher on examination duty when he or she had already left the school or died. “The matter should be taken seriously and schools must update their teachers’ names, subjects and qualifications and remove the names of those already left. It was seen that a few schools are submitting incomplete documents, due to which the process get delayed,” he said.

Burman has directed the principals to upload their school-related information to the Unified District Information on School Education (UDISE) app.

Schools have to upload information related to the strength of students, girls and boys, the number of students availing benefits, infrastructure, playgrounds and toilets for boys and girls separately, drinking water, number of classrooms, labs, healthcare facilities and the number of students availing state and central scholarships, among others.

Discussions were also held on registration and reimbursement under the Right to Education (RTE) Act. The Right To Education Act states that 25% of the seats at the entry level should be kept for the admission of children belonging to disadvantaged groups and weaker sections.

Additional district programme coordinator (education) Yashjit Kumar said altogether 1,244 kids got admission under the RTE Act in the district in 2017-18, which went up to 2,625 in 2018-19. “The department has released funds and the schools have to submit the required details.

Sahodaya president Rajiv Ranjan Sinha and other members, principals of different schools were also present during the meeting.
