KOCHI: Kerala CBSE School Management Association has welcomed the state government’s decision to not award grace marks to SSLC and Plus-Two students. They said awarding grace marks to students in the state schools would have been injustice towards students in CBSE and other streams.
However, various teachers associations, including the Pro-CPM Kerala School Teachers Association have asked the government to reconsider its decision claiming that many of them had become eligible for the grace marks even before the schools were closed due to the pandemic. The general education department had announced the decision to not award grace marks on Tuesday considering the schools had remained closed during the academic year due to the Covid-19 emergency. Around 30 different extracurricular activities including NCC and NSS fetch grace marks for the students.
TPM Ibrahim Khan, president of Kerala CBSE Management Association, said that grace marks were an advantage for state schools students to easily secure admission in higher education courses.
