More than 99% of the Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) students have passed Class 10, according to the results released on Tuesday. Last year, 91.46% passed the exam.
In fact, eight States and Union Territories -- Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry, Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Goa and Lakshadweep -- recorded a 100% pass this year. All Kendriya Vidyalayas across the country also had a 100 percentage pass.
This year’s exams, originally scheduled to be held in May and June, were cancelled due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, the marks were calculated on the basis of internal assessments, including unit tests, mid-terms and pre-board exams, and are not really comparable with the results of previous years.
No toppers now
Hence, no toppers have been declared now, as the board decided not to issue any merit list or merit certificates. However, the number of high scorers has increased, with almost 2.6 lakh students (12%) scoring above 90%.
Out of 20.97 lakh students, for whom results have been declared, 20.77 lakh have passed, resulting in a 99.04 percentage pass.
Results are still being processed for 16,639 students. Examinations will be held separately for 36,841 private candidates, as well as the students who are not satisfied with the results they have been assigned under the alternate assessment policy using internal assessments.
Students can download their results and academic documents, including marksheets, passing, migration and skills certificates, through the CBSE’s academic repository Parinam Manjusha, which is integrated with DigiLocker. This year, for the first time, the CBSE is also giving such digital access to schools and to foreign students.
The results will be available on cbseresults.nic.in or cbse.gov.in or DigiLocker.
