
As many as 2,548 students from the tricity scored 10 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in the Central Board of Secondary Education Class 10 results declared on Saturday. Maximum students (1,379) in the ‘ten on ten’ category were from Chandigarh, followed by 686 from Panchkula and 483 from SAS Nagar.
In 2015, a total of 1,641 students had scored CGPA 10 from the tricity.
However, in terms of percentage, Panchkula is ahead of SAS Nagar and Chandigarh. As many as 20.86% students from Panchkula scored CGPA 10, followed by SAS Nagar with 16.06% and Chandigarh 8.03%.
Panchukla’s overall pass percentage is 99.85, followed by SAS Nagar at 97.11 and Chandigarh at 95.99.
In a record of sorts, none of the 1,237 girls failed in Panchkula. Here, 3,288 students appeared and just five failed. The pass percentage of boys was 99.76.
SAS Nagar pass %age falls a little
In SAS Nagar district, 2,920 of 3,007 candidates cleared the exam to give a pass percentage of 97.11. The pass percentage of girls (98.94) is higher than boys (95.85) here too. In 2015, the pass percentage was 98.5. So, there is a dip of 1.39% in 2016. In 2014, the pass percentage was 99.16%.
Chandigarh betters its 2015 show
With 16,483 of 17,172 students clearing the exam, Chandigarh recorded a pass percentage of 95.99, a jump of 2.37% over last year’s 93.62. In 2014, the pass percentage was 99.1. This year, the pass percentage of girls (96.41%) was higher than boys (95.64%).
Govt schools
The pass percentage of government schools in Chandigarh this year was 94.7. A total of 10,617 appeared while 10,054 passed. In 2015, the pass percentage was 90.67; a jump of 4%. In 2016, the pass percentage of boys was 94.52, while those of girls is 94.89.
Comparison of private schools
The pass percentage of private schools in Panchkula was 99.83. Here, Chandigarh is at second spot with 97.8 pass percentage and SAS Nagar at 96.88.
100% result at Navodaya vidyalayas
Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) in Chandigarh and Panchkula recorded 100 % result.
In Kendriya Vidyalayas, Panchkula tops with 100% pass percentage while Chandigarh is second with 99.86 % and SAS Nagar is 99.56 %.
