CBSE Class 10 result: Meet Prakhar Mittal, the joint topper from Gurgaon

Prakhar Mittal credited his parents for his success as he aced CBSE’s Class 10 board examinations on Tuesday and said they never forced him to slog for the board examinations.

A student of Delhi Public School in Gurgaon’s Sector 45, Mittal scored 499 out of 500 marks with three other students to become the topper.

“My parents and teachers helped me a lot. The teachers in my school are very good and I could perform so well because of the way they taught us as well as the notes they gave,” he said.

“I studied according to my own pace with a cool head,” the 16-year-old added.

Mittal said he studied for at least four to five hours in a day and took a break to resume for another three to four hours.

Rimzhim Agarwal from RP Public School Bijnor, Nandini Garg from Scottish International School Shamli and Sreelakshmi G from Bhavan Vidyalaya in Cochin also scored the same marks as Mittal.

The overall pass percentage this year is 86.70 and, officials said, 27,476 candidates scored 95% or above.

Girls have done better than boys by 3.35%. Girls have a pass percentage of 88.67% and boys 85.32%.

The total number of candidates who have secured more than 90% and above is 1,31,493.

Thiruvananthapuram has topped with a pass percentage of 99.60%, followed by Chennai (97.37%), and Ajmer (91.86%). Delhi has a pass percentage of 78.62%.

JNV schools have performed the best with pass percentage of 97.31% followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas with 95.96% and private schools are third with 89.49%
