CBS Sports says Ravens should acquire Bears star WR at trade deadline

The Baltimore Ravens have plenty of areas on their roster that could use an upgrade as the 2021 trade deadline quickly approaches. They have had to deal with countless injuries, as well as some subpar play at certain positions that has hindered their ability to become the best team that they can be.

When looking at one deal that he thinks each NFL team should make, Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports said that Baltimore should “buy” and make a deal for Chicago Bears wide receiver Allen Robinson. The veteran has been a name that has been long linked to the Ravens, and Benjamin believes that now is the time for Baltimore to make a deal for him.

“Lamar Jackson is doing just fine with his current crop of wideouts, and Marquise Brown has emerged as a true No. 1. But Robinson would be a premium rental for a title run, bringing size and physicality to a group that should only get better.”

Right now, Robinson is the product of a struggling Chicago team, only putting up 23 receptions for 250 receiving yards and one touchdown through seven games. He would certainly benefit from a change of scenery, but it would be hard to justify the Ravens being his next destination for multiple reasons.

For one, Robinson signed a one-year deal for just under $18 million dollars. Baltimore would be on the hook for his remaining salary this year, and then would have to sign him to a presumably massive contract extension in order to keep his services. That combined with the draft capital needed to acquire him and the plethora of talented young wide receivers that the Ravens already have on their roster makes it difficult to see Baltimore making a move for Robinson at this point.
