CBS Sports’ 3-round mock draft has Seahawks reloading defense

The entire league is on the clock as the 2019 NFL draft inches closer and closer each day. The Seattle Seahawks are no exception.

As the team begins to strategize how best to reload their roster with a league-low four selections in this year’s draft, analysts are busy predicting what direction Seattle will go.

On Monday, Ryan Wilson of CBS Sports released a three-round mock draft for every team in the NFL. Wilson did not predict the Seahawks to trade out of the first round, leaving them with only two picks during the first two days of the draft, which Seattle will use to help the defense.

Wilson projects Seattle will select defensive back Nasir Adderley at No. 21 overall. “Adderley is a converted cornerback who can cover in the slot or play center field,” Wilson notes. “His athleticism makes him a great fit in Seattle’s defense.”

A safety, the Seahawks could very well draft Adderley with the intent of converting him to cornerback. Considering the success coach Pete Carroll had with Tre Flowers, there is a possibility he may want to do something similar with Adderley.

With no pick in the second round, Wilson next projects the Seahawks will take Old Dominium edge rusher Oshane Ximines in the third.

“Ximines may be slightly undersized by edge rusher standards but he makes up for size with quickness.” Wilson writes. “He followed up a strong season at Old Dominion with a good showing at the Senior Bowl.”

The Seahawks desperately need a consistent pass rusher to pair with defensive end Frank Clark, or perhaps to fill in for Clark if he and Seattle do not eventually come to terms on a long term extension.
