CBS scores with marvelous video feature to open Super Bowl LV

The NFL season leading into Super Bowl LV was unlike any other. The COVID-19 pandemic turned the lives of everyone inside out, whether you were a player, owner, or a fan.

CBS built its Super Bowl opening Sunday around the song “Stand By Me.” Jennifer Hudson’s version accompanied a stirring video that paid tribute to frontline and healthcare workers — heroes.

And the network brought it home by tying family life and, the importance of it, to the players on the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Tom Brady said his hero was his dad … Patrick Mahomes spoke of how his mom and dad supported him. Many other players offered tributes.

It was a stellar production that pulled together an impossible time in the lives of everyone and hit home. Big time.
