CBS' hit series Fire Country returns with Season 2 lineup

Fire Country Season 2 premieres on February 16, 2024 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

CBS' hit series, Fire Country, is set to return with its highly anticipated Season 2. The firefighter show, created by SEAL Team star Max Thieriot, premiered in 2022 and quickly became a fan favorite. Starring Thieriot as Bode Donovan, the series follows his character's journey as a convict who volunteers with the California Conservation Camp Program to assist Cal Fire. However, things take an unexpected turn when Bode is sent back to his hometown in Northern California, where he finds himself battling dangerous wildfires alongside his family, former friends, inmates, and professional firefighters.

With an average of 8 million viewers per episode and 10 million in live+35 multi-platform viewing, Fire Country was the most-watched new broadcast series in the 2022-2023 season, according to Deadline. The success of the show has led CBS to explore the possibility of turning it into a franchise. CBS President and CEO George Cheeks expressed the network's commitment to creating mass-appeal franchises, stating, 'This season’s No. 1 show was Fire Country, which completely lends itself to building out a whole new universe.'

As the show heads into its second season, showrunner Tia Napolitano is excited about the new chapter that awaits viewers. She revealed that Season 2 will not simply be a continuation of the previous season but will deliver fresh and captivating storylines that will shock and engage the audience from the very beginning. Napolitano expressed her enthusiasm, saying, 'Having had a rest from Season 1, we feel like we’re ready to come back even stronger and shock everybody from the second the episodes start to air when we’re finally out there.'

Season 2 of Fire Country is slated to premiere on CBS on Friday, February 16, 2024, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT. Fans can also catch the episodes on Paramount+ one day later. While CBS has not confirmed the exact number of episodes for the upcoming season, it was reported that the network aims to produce 10-13 episodes following the production delays caused by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes.

The first episode of Season 2, titled 'Something's Coming,' promises to deliver a thrilling start. According to the episode description, Bode finds himself back in prison, receiving shocking news while the crew of Station 42 responds to a massive earthquake that shakes Edgewater to its core. This exciting premiere sets the stage for what is sure to be an intense and gripping season.

Many of the familiar faces from Season 1 will be returning for Season 2 of Fire Country. Additionally, there will be some new additions to the cast. Rafael De La Fuente, known for his role in Dynasty, will join the show as Diego, a charming and motivated paramedic/firefighter and combat vet who served in Afghanistan. Another notable guest star will be Morena Baccarin, recognized for her portrayal in Deadpool. Baccarin's appearance has the potential to spark a spinoff series, as her character, Mickey, a Sheriff's Deputy with deep ties to Edgewater, fiercely protects her town and its inhabitants.

Fans of Fire Country can watch the teaser for Season 2, which gives a sneak peek into the intense and action-packed episodes that await. With new challenges, emotional moments, and unexpected alliances, Season 2 is set to captivate audiences and further solidify Fire Country's place as one of the most thrilling firefighter shows on television.
