CBS cameras capture Zion Williamson rolling his ankle against UCF

Every step Zion Williamson takes during the NCAA tournament has been (and will be) documented by a CBS/Turner camera. Really, CBS has one camera dedicated to Zion.

That feature paid off in the first half of Sunday’s second-round game against UCF. The broadcast caught a potential injury scare during a Williamson turnover that could have otherwise been easy to miss.

He appeared to tweak his ankle while making a move with the ball.

This could have been a game-changing moment as UCF was hanging around for much of the first half. But aside from a few minutes of favoring the ankle, Williamson recovered to dominate the half. He didn’t leave the court even after rolling the ankle.

Still, credit to the CBS broadcast for picking up on that moment. It wasn’t easy to see in real time, and it could have been a tournament-altering injury.

Williamson had missed six games after suffering a sprained knee in the regular season. Since returning, he’s been wearing different versions of customized Nike Kyrie 4 sneakers. He tested a custom pair of the LeBron 10 shoes before the game.

Williamson finished the half with 15 points on 6 of 10 shooting and four rebounds.
