LUCKNOW: Central Bureau of Investigation’s Lucknow unit booked a commandant posted in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in a disproportionate assets case on Saturday and later carried out searches in four districts.
The districts include Lucknow, Mirzapur, Delhi and GB Nagar.
CBI registered a case against Neeraj Pandey who is posted as a commandant in 93rd battalion in Lucknow under the charges of prevention of corruption act.
CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch in Lucknow had received a complaint against Pandey from Inspector General of CRPF, (Personnel) Vitul Kumar.
Kumar had alleged that Pandey acquired immovable and moveable assets in his name and in the name of his family members since 2014, which are disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The CBI started preliminary enquiry and prima facie found that the accused Pandey, enriched himself illicitly during the period from January 1, 2014 to December 2022. He has amassed total assets of Rs 1.44 crore in his name as well as in the name of his family members and made expenditure payments of Rs 9 crore against his income of Rs 5.20 crore during the said period. He has been found in possession of assets of Rs 5.61 crore which is disproportionate to his known source of income.
