CBBC actress Mya-Lecia Naylor dies aged 16

BBC children's TV star Mya-Lecia Naylor, who appeared in shows Millie Inbetween and Almost Never, has died aged 16, the broadcaster said.

A statement posted on the CBBC website said: "We are so sorry to have to tell you that Mya-Lecia, who you will know from 'Millie Inbetween' and 'Almost Never' has, very sadly, died. Mya-Lecia was a much loved part of the BBC Children's family, and a hugely talented actress, singer and dancer.

"We will miss her enormously and we are sure that you will want to join us in sending all our love to her family and friends. If you would like to share a memory of Mya-Lecia, you can post a comment below.

"We know this news is very upsetting, and it may help to share how you are feeling with friends or a trusted adult.

Mya-Lecia, from London, starred in CBBC show Millie Inbetween as Fran, as well the channel's Almost Never.

She also appeared in BBC show Absolutely Fabulous as Jane in 2004, her first TV role.

Following her first few TV roles, she then went on to appear in Hollywood blockbuster Cloud Atlas as Miro in 2013.

In a statement from her management team, A&J Management, they said: "It is with the deepest sorrow we have to announce that on Sunday 7th April Mya-Lecia Naylor, very sadly, died.

"Mya-Lecia was hugely talented and a big part of A&J, we will miss her greatly. Our love and thoughts are with all her family and friends at this difficult time."

Fans of the actress paid tribute to her and sent messages of support to her family, one said: "Such sad news..so sorry to hear this..deepest sympathy to her family x"

Another added: "I am deeply saddened by this news. Love to Mya’s family x"

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Emily Atack, who starred alongside her in Almost Never paid tribute on social media.

She said: "So shocked and sad to hear about lovely Mya-Lecia Naylor. She was a beautiful and talented girl.

"A complete joy to be around on the set of Almost Never. Sending all my love to her family & friends. Rest in peace beautiful girl."
