CB Ugo Amadi to do pre-draft visit with the Steelers

According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, former Oregon cornerback Ugo Amadi is planning a pre-draft visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Amadi was named the Lombardi Award winner in 2018 which goes to the top defensive back in the country.

From a play standpoint, watching Amadi play reminds you very much of Mike Hilton. He’s similar in stature and plays with a similarly aggressive style. Which makes the Steelers’ interest in him be somewhat puzzling. Pittsburgh already has Hilton and even Cam Sutton to fill this sort of role.

It could be the Steelers are planning to move Amadi to safety if they draft him. He doesn’t have the size to play boundary cornerback and isn’t fast enough to make up for his lack of height. You cannot discount Amadi’s production and leadership in college. But his NFL game looks to be rather limited.
