CB Robert Alford’s contract counts $6M against salary cap in 2019

Some of the contract details for new Arizona Cardinals cornerback Robert Alford were made known but we have more information now, including the cap hit per year in his three-year contract.

Alford’s contract is for three years and worth $22.5 million.

Here is what the deal looks like broken down, according to Over the Cap.

He received a $4.5 million signing bonus and his entire salary of $4.45 million is guaranteed. He will also get $50,000 in a workout bonus, provided he participates in offseason workouts.

In all that adds up to a $6-million salary cap hit in 2019.

He has his 2020 salary guaranteed for injury, which adds another $6 million in guarantees. He will count $7.5 million against the cap in 2020.

His salary, combined with his workout bonus, jumps to $7.5 million in 2021, which would count $9 million against the cap.

In terms of cap management, he is an easy cut after 2020. The Cardinals would gain $7.5 million in cap space with only $1.5 million in dead money.
