CB Robert Alford considers himself ‘a game changer’ opposite Patrick Peterson

When the Arizona Cardinals signed cornerback Robert Alford after he was released by the Atlanta Falcons, they believed they have found an answer at cornerback opposite Patrick Peterson they can count on. He believes that, too.

“I consider myself as a game changer,” Alford said when he spoke with the media this past week.  “That’s something they said they needed on the opposite side of Pat, along with Pat. I feel I can bring that piece they’ve been missing.”

Alford signed a three-year deal with Arizona. Alford said they were the first to call him and were aggressive in getting him signed. Patrick Peterson is Alford’s friend and helped with the recruiting.

Alford is up for the challenge of getting thrown at often, as opposing quarterbacks rarely go after Peterson. He thinks “the sky is the limit,” as far as how many interceptions he can have.

There is a goal in mind, despite his not wanting to put a number on what he gets.

“Coaches said they need picks each and every game,” Alford said.

Alford’s spot on the defense has been a revolving door over the years. Hopefully, he is healthy and effective so the position is stabilized for many years.
