CB Robert Alford already had connection to Kliff Kingsbury

When the Arizona Cardinals hired Kliff Kingsbury to be their new head coach, there weren’t many connections between him and the players already on the roster. After all, Kingsbury has never coached in the NFL.

He recruited receiver Christian Kirk.

However, one free agent addition is familiar with Kingsbury, or already had a connection.

Cornerback Robert Alford, signed to a three-year deal after being released by the Atlanta Falcons, has that connection.

When Alford spoke to reporters after the team’s offseason program began, he revealed he already know Kingsbury.

“He played with my older brother with the Saints,” he said.

Kingsbury crossed paths with Alford’s brother, cornerback Fred Booker in New Orleans.

Alford said Kingsbury is “a stand-up guy” and “a player’s coach.”
