Cornerback Parry Nickerson will be coming off the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Reserve/COVID-19 list the team announced Wednesday morning. This comes after Nickerson was placed on the list on Thursday, July 30.
Nickerson, 25, joined the Jags last October through their main roster and eventually was cut and added to their practice squad. Prior to joining the Jags, he was a sixth-round pick (No. 179 overall) for the New York Jets coming out of Tulane in 2018 and also spent some time with the Seattle Seahawks afterward (via trade).
Nickerson will enter his 2020 tenure with the Jags with 27 career tackles and one pass deflection. In his young career, he’s also taken part in 20 games while starting in three.
Nickerson will join a young cornerback group that includes rookie C.J. Henderson, third-year player Tre Herndon, and veteran Rashaan Melvin at the top of the depth chart. The group will be one that could see fierce competition from undrafted rookies Luq Barcoo, Amari Henderson, and Kobe Williams.
With Nickerson now activated, the Jags are at 84 players, including tight end James O’Shaughnessy who is the team’s lone player on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list. Meanwhile, Ryquell Armstead, tight end Charles Jones, receiver Michael Walker, offensive tackle Ryan Pope, and guard Tre’Vour Wallace-Simms remain on the Jags’ Reserve/COVID-19 list.
