CB Marlon Humphrey is the Ravens’ Player of the Game vs. Browns

The Baltimore Ravens didn’t have too many performances to be proud of in their 40-25 loss to the Cleveland Browns. But believe it or not, there were some players that did their jobs and can’t be blamed for the larger failure of other units. One of those players was cornerback Marlon Humphrey.

Humphrey was given the task of shadowing Odell Beckham Jr. — a difficult assignment given Beckham’s status as one of the top receivers in the NFL. But Humphrey answered the call, holding Beckham to a paltry two receptions for 20 yards off seven targets. At one point he frustrated the receiver so much Beckham threw a punch and initiated a fight.

Even though it came in a bad loss, Humphrey’s performance in shutting out one of the best receivers in the NFL is an encouraging sign that the third-year cornerback is establishing himself as one of the best at the position. This kind of elite performance is why I’m naming him the Player of the Game for Week 4. And if the other young corners were capable of playing half as well as Humphrey did today, perhaps the team might have fared better this week.
