CB Kevin King participating as Packers open OTAs

The Green Bay Packers were without third-year safety Josh Jones to open OTAs, but cornerback Kevin King – another member of the 2017 draft class – was back on the field and participating during Tuesday’s open practice.

It was a welcoming sign for King, who missed last month’s minicamp and has dealt with major injury issues during each of his first two NFL seasons. He finished both 2017 and 2018 on injured reserve.

According to Rob Demovsky of ESPN, King participated in individual drills Tuesday but wasn’t on the field for team work. Tramon Williams and Jaire Alexander started with the No. 1 defense at cornerback.

The Packers need King healthy to start his third – and most important – season.

“He’s a long, fast corner who can make plays on the football. He’s definitely an important part for us moving forward,” coach Matt LaFleur said.

King, the Packers’ top pick in 2017, missed seven games as a rookie with a recurring shoulder injury and 10 games last season with groin and hamstring injuries.
