CB Kevin Johnson officially signs with the Browns

Over a week after agreeing to terms with the Browns on a free agent contract, cornerback Kevin Johnson officially signed with Cleveland on Saturday. The veteran Johnson spent 2019 with the Buffalo Bills.

While the Browns have yet to make the formal details public, numerous reports indicate Johnson signed a one-year, $3.5 million contract. There are incentives that can bump the figure up to $6 million.

Johnson, 27, spent his first four season with the Houston Texans. He was Houston’s first-round pick in 2015 out of Wake Forest. He’s battled numerous injuries while struggling to find a role in the NFL.

In Cleveland, Johnson should compete to start in the slot/nickel role vacated by T.J. Carrie. He has some potential to play outside as well.
