CB Hamp Cheevers is one of the Titans’ most intriguing UDFA prospects

The Tennessee Titans made use of the early free agency period and the 2019 NFL Draft to add talent on both sides of the ball.

Now, the team turns to undrafted free agents to continue bolstering the roster. While there’s been a swarm of reports as to who the Titans are signing, nothing will be confirmed until later in the month.

While there’s a long list of unsigned players connected to the team, one of the most intriguing is former Boston College cornerback Hamp Cheevers.

Cheevers may be a bit undersized at 5-foot-9, 169 pounds, but makes up for it with his overall effectiveness and productivity at the position.

He may have flown under the radar during the draft this year, but there are some impressive stats surrounding Cheevers.

In 2018, the cornerback allowed the lowest passer rating of any player at the position in his draft class that had over 40 targets in his direction. Opposing quarterbacks completed only 34-of-47 passes (46%) for 430 yards, 3 touchdowns and 7 interceptions when throwing Cheevers’ way.

With the Eagles, Cheevers recorded 55 tackles, 2.5 for loss, nine interceptions, 10 pass breakups, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and a score.

Cheevers is a raw prospect that will take some time to develop, but could potentially be worthy of making the 53-man roster in Tennessee.
