Veteran free agent cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick may not be back with the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. The veteran, who Arizona signed a one-year contract before the season, commented on an Instagram post on March 4, stating that the team “needs to pay this time.”
Given the Cardinals’ current cap situation (a projected $11 million from OverTheCap) and 33 pending free agents, that may be a long shot for the 31-year-old. General manager Steve Keim addressed the media on Wednesday, saying there would be some “tough decisions to be made” and some impending free agents “will have to hit the market.” If Kirkpatrick remains firm in his stance to demand a premium, he may end up being one of the players taking his talents elsewhere this offseason.
