CB Bashaud Breeland returns to Kansas City on one-year, $4.5 million deal

Former Washington Redskins cornerback Bashaud Breeland is returning to the Kansas City Chiefs for the 2020 season after signing a one-year deal worth $4.5 million, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.

Breeland, who won the Super Bowl with the Chiefs in 2019, was an expected free-agent target for the Redskins, as he played for them at the start of his career and only left a couple of years ago in free agency. The Redskins signed former Chief Kendall Fuller earlier this offseason, another player who played alongside Breeland in both Washington and Kansas City, so it seemed plausible that the team would try and keep that duo together once again.

However, after signing both Fuller and Ronald Darby, the Redskins had less of a need for yet another cornerback who would garner that type of attention, so it’s not too surprising to see Breeland stick around in KC and look to win another Super Bowl with the Chiefs.
