Cazoo plans hiring spree as the used car retailer expands

Cazoo, the online used car retailer started by entrepreneur and Zoopla founder Alex Chesterman, is planning to go on a hiring spree, creating 200 new jobs before the end of the year.

The company in July bought car dealer Imperial Car Supermarkets and it is converting 14 of that firm’s sites into Cazoo customer centres, giving customers a local collection option as an alternative to home delivery. The sites also handle customers MOT and servicing needs.

Cazoo, which is opening one of the centres in Wembley today, expects to boost staff numbers to 700 from around 500.

It will be recruiting for roles such as store managers and vehicle servicing jobs.

Neil Smith, retail director at Cazoo said, “We have been delighted by the overwhelmingly positive response of consumers to our online car buying proposition. With our ever-increasing number of sales, these new customer centres will provide more options to our customers on when and how they want to receive their Cazoo car, and will allow us to serve them better through our own service centres."
