Cazoo make £48,000 donation to Everton in the Community with new season pledge

Everton's main sponsor has donated £48,000 to the club's charitable arm after a goals pledge made at the start of the season.

Cazoo, who signed a three-year-deal with the Blues last June to replace SportPesa on the front of the club's shirts, promised to give £1,000 for every Premier League goal scored by the team this season.

The online car retailer also sponsor Aston Villa and pledged to do the same, with money going to the Aston Villa Foundation.

Cazoo said they would double their donation to £2,000 per goal in games between the sides. Villa won 2-1 at Goodison but the teams drew 0-0 at Villa Park.

Everton scored 47 times in the league this season, securing Everton in the Community a £48,000 donation. Villa scored 55 goals in the league this term to earn the club's Foundation at £57,000 donation.

Alex Chesterman OBE, Founder & CEO of Cazoo said: “We’re delighted to be supporting these great Clubs and their respective charities that both deliver essential projects in each of their local communities.

"It’s been an exciting season and we have had double reason to cheer with every goal scored by Everton and Aston Villa, knowing that it would help both their seasons and their charities.

"I am happy to announce that we will continue this charitable initiative next season and be cheering for even more goals to be scored.”

Lesley Beattie, Everton in the Community Director of Development said: “We are very appreciative to Cazoo for the generosity shown with ‘Goals for Good’ this season. We share many of the same values and they were keen to show their support for our work and give something back to the local community.

"The team have helped net a considerable amount this season resulting in a fantastic £48,000 donation from Cazoo which has had a massive impact on our work in Liverpool and the surrounding areas.”

Cazoo have pledged to carry on the initiative next season.
