Cavaliers guard J.R. Smith is expected to miss at least three months following surgery Friday to repair a "complex fracture" in his right thumb. The Cavs estimated his return at 12-14 weeks, which would put him back on the court around the start of April.
Hand specialist Dr. Thomas Graham performed the surgery at the Crystal Clinic Orthopaedic Center in Montrose, Ohio.
DeAndre Liggins is expected to remain Smith's replacement in the starting lineup for the foreseeable future.
