Cavs GM Koby Altman says All-Star Kevin Love may miss 'multiple games'

Cavaliers five-time All-Star Kevin Love could miss more than a month with a left toe injury that has already sidelined him for two games, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst reported Monday.

According to the report, Love and the Cavs are consulting with doctors early this week as the power forward has been experiencing intense pain. There is also the question of whether Love should try to push through the injury with the Cavs' 0-6, which prompted the firing of coach Tyronn Lue on Sunday.

Love has been bothered by what the team called a left foot injury since the preseason.

As he addressed the media on Lue's firing, Cavs general manager Koby Altman said Love was going to see an outside specialist, and it's possible Love could miss "multiple games."

Joe Vardon of The Athletic reported that an MRI revealed Love had fluid around his left toe. He was walking stiffly in the locker room after the last game he played Wednesday at home against Brooklyn.

Love, 30, signed a four-year, $120 million contract extension in July, just weeks after LeBron James bolted to the Los Angeles Lakers in free agency.

In four games, Love is averaging 19.0 points and 13.5 rebounds. But he's shooting .323 from the field and .292 from 3-point range, well below his career averages of .443 and .370, respectively.

Last season Love was limited to 59 regular-season games after breaking his left hand Jan. 30 at Detroit.
