The Cavaliers and the Boston Celtics finalized terms of their Aug. 22 trade Wednesday night, with the Celtics sweetening the deal with a second-round pick from the Miami Heat in 2020.
Cavs general manager Koby Altman confirmed the agreement to the Beacon Journal.
The Cavs were concerned about the torn labrum in Isaiah Thomas' right hip after seeing the results of his physical examination, but the two sides didn't begin discussions until Tuesday. The Cavs sought an additional first-round pick as compensation, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, but the Celtics wouldn't go any further.
Four-time All-Star Kyrie Irving was sent to Boston for two-time All-Star Thomas, small forward Jae Crowder, center Ante Zizic and Brooklyn's first-round pick in 2018. Wojnarowski suggested the Cavs could void the trade after Thomas flew to Cleveland Friday for his medical workup.
The deadline to pass physicals is 10 a.m. Thursday, per league rules, although the two teams could have agreed to an extension. Irving reportedly flew to Boston for his tests Saturday.
