Cavehill rescue after woman suffers fall

A woman has been rescued after a fall on Cavehill in Belfast.

Emergency services received a call for help shortly after 2pm on Wednesday.

Three fire appliances attended the incident - one from Westland Fire Station, and two Specialist Rescue Team Appliances attended the scene with two crews from the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service.

It is understood the woman suffered an injury to her ankle in the incident.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters were called to a specialist rescue incident on the Upper Hightown Road, Ballysillan, Belfast this afternoon.

"A casualty had fallen down a hillside and was injured.

"Firefighters removed the casualty from the hillside using specialist rescue equipment, including lines and a stretcher.

"The casualty was then taken into the care of Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. The incident was dealt with by 3.47pm."
