The Ulster SFC draw was made this evening with holders Cavan facing a difficult opening defence of their title with a trip to face Tyrone, in what will be Brian Dooher and Feargal Logan’s first Championship game in charge of the Red Hands.
Every provincial winner since 2016 is on that side of the draw with 2018 and ‘19 champions Donegal having to negotiate tricky away ties against Down and Derry just to reach a semi-final
Remarkably, the meeting of Antrim and Armagh in the top half will be the counties’ first in the Ulster Championship since 1982 with their only other Championship clash in the interim coming in the qualifiers in 2003.
It is likely that Monaghan boss Seamus McEnaney will be under suspension for their opener against Fermanagh, provided the GAA Management Committee matches the 12-week ban handed out to Farrell for breaching the training ban which was only lifted this week.
