A man has died after a car he was in plunged into a canal.
Three men were in the vehicle that went into Ballinamore Canal near Ballyconnell in Co Cavan at around 7pm.
Two of the men managed to escape, with one pulling the other from the canal.
Both were unharmed, but with the other young man missing after the crash, they called for help and emergency services swung into action.
Tragically, however his body was pulled from the water at around 10pm.
It’s understood he was in his 20s and not from the area but from the south Leinster region.
