Cavan football fans celebrate as team returns home following Ulster triumph

Cavan fans and players are celebrating the county's first Ulster title since 1997 after a 1-13 to 0-12 victory over Donegal.

The jubilant Breffni Blues returned home from the Athletic Grounds in Armagh and were met with a drive-through reception at their home ground this evening.

Supporters have been savouring the victory while endeavouring to stick to social distancing rules amid the pandemic, with Cavan GAA asking people to stay in their cars at all times for the drive-by reception at Breffni Park.

Shane McCaffrey tweeted a video of some of the scenes of celebration in Cavan Town tonight.

Cavan boss Mickey Graham was emotional as he praised his players after the win.

Speaking to BBC Sport NI after the game, Graham said: "What can you say? They just gave everything you ask of a team...honesty, guts, determination, belief. When nobody else had it, they had it and I'm just delighted for them.

"We knew coming into the game that we had to be on our game for the whole 75-80 minutes and we were happy at half-time where we stood."

When asked what this win meant for a county that has been badly affected by the pandemic, Graham was overcome with emotion.

Holding back tears of joy, he added: "Words can't describe it...you know, it's just huge. That's all I can say."
