Cavan All-Ireland winner James McCabe dies aged 89

Former All-Ireland football winner with Cavan James McCabe has died aged 89.

McCabe was part of the 1952 team that lifted the Sam Maguire - the last time Cavan won the championship.

He would later have a great career in education planning, becoming a senior economist for educational planning at the World Bank in Washington DC.

McCabe is survived by his wife Kay, five children, grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
