Cavaliers forward Lauri Markkanen joined teammate Kevin Love on the NBA's health and safety protocol list Wednesday and will miss the team's game Wednesday night against the Portland Trail Blazers.
Markkanen joined the Cavs via trade back in August and is a big part of why the Cavs (4-4) have started the season respectably, including wins over the Los Angeles Clippers and Atlanta Hawks. He's been part of the team's three-big-man lineup — which also includes center Jarrett Allen and rookie Evan Mobley — that helped the team enjoy a successful 3-2 road trip.
Markkanen averages 12.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Further updates will be made when relevant, according to a team statement.
