If you bought hot dog or hamburger buns for a cookout this weekend, you’re going to want to check the UPC numbers and dates on them before firing up the grill.
Hamburger and hot dog buns sold at national retailers in Illinois and Indiana are being recalled due to contamination that may cause consumers to choke.
Flowers Foods, the makers of breads and other bakery products for Wonder, Nature’s Own and store brands for Walmart, Target and Aldi, issued the voluntary recall after the company found that small pieces of plastic may have contaminated products during production.
No injuries or illnesses have been reported at this time. Consumers can check out the full list of affected products at Flowers Foods’ website.
The breads were distributed to stores in 18 states. Anyone who bought these contaminated products should not eat them and either throw them out or return them to the store for a full refund. Consumers with questions can contact Flowers Foods Consumer Relations Center at 1-866-245-8921.
