Cauliflower-cheese pizza is a thing thanks to Jamie Oliver

Jamie Oliver fans have fallen in love with his latest recipe - but some were shocked at the calorie count.

Jamie unveiled his deep-pan cauliflower-cheese pizza on Meat-Free Meals, describing it as “wrong, but right”.

While viewers couldn't wait to give it a try it does come with a warning that it contains 872 calories in each serving - and 79 per cent of your recommended daily intake of saturated fat, reports The Mirror.

As well as featuring on the latest episode of his TV show, the recipe is available in his new Veg book – aimed at encouraging the nation to eat less meat – and contains cheddar cheese, butter, oil and bread flour.

“It’s two of the best things in my life,” says Jamie. “Cauliflower cheese from the Sunday roast and a deep-pan pizza.

“I don’t know if I want to sleep on it or eat it.”

One viewer said: “872 calories per serving? Jeez!!” Another scoffed: “Why are all your recipes carbs, carbs and more carbs as a substitute for meat – it’s not healthy, just filling.”

While many Jamie fans salivated over the carby feast, and one described it as “amazing”, another remarked it “has as many calories as a meat feast pizza”.
