Cauley Woodrow addresses fake injury claims amid Leeds United interest

Barnsley forward Cauley Woodrow has vehemently rebutted claims he has been feigning an injury at Oakwell in order to push through a potential move to Leeds United.

The Tykes striker has played only once this month for the Championship stragglers, having missed four of their last five games with an unspecified problem.

The 25-year-old has been a consistent performer in South Yorkshire since he signed a full-time deal with the club, sparking rumours earlier this month of interest from several promotion-chasing rivals.

Leeds were among those sides mooted, as were Nottingham Forest and Bristol City, with whom Woodrow had a mixed loan spell previously.

However, he has now blasted claims his absence has been a ploy in order to seal a move to a club in better form, stating he has no intentions of an exit this month.

"While I am a Barnsley player, my focus is completely and solely on Barnsley, so I have not had a thought of wanting to leave," Woodrow told the Yorkshire Post.

"My injury was an injury and it wasn’t me pretending to be injured in terms of wanting a move. It was literally just an injury and I am focused on helping this team and club stay in this division.

"Tuesday was just a blip and I think every team has those games. I am 100 per cent positive it won’t happen at the weekend."

Leeds' search for a new striker continues as they look to bring in a player to support Patrick Bamford in attack following Eddie Nketiah's recall.
