Cattle trader caught with fake B1,000 notes

TAK: A cattle trader was caught with 70 fake 1,000-baht banknotes in his possession at a checkpoint in Umphang district of this lower northern province on Sunday, police said.

The man, identified only as Pong, was driving a Toyota Mighty-X pickup with a load of two cattle that was stopped for a search by a team of Uphang police and soldiers from the 14th Infantry Regiment of the Naresuan Force at a checkpoint at Ban Prophado, the Moo 1 village in tambon Mokro of Umphang district.

The search found 70 fake 1,000-baht banknotes in his possession. A subsequent urine test at Umphang Hospital was positive for methamphetamine use.

He was charged with having fake banknotes in his possession and driving under the influence of an illegal drug.

The man allegedly confessed he had intended using the fake notes when buy and selling cattle.

Police were investigating the source of the fake notes.
