Jack Catterall and Harlem Eubank clash in an important all-British welterweight fight tonight.
Catterall is seeking a swift return to winning ways after being edged out by Arnold Barboza Jr in a gutting split-decision loss back in February which wrecked his world title hopes for the time being.
That halted ‘El Gato’s’ significant momentum after he had beaten veteran warrior Jorge Linares and successfully avenged his hugely controversial first career loss to Josh Taylor that saw him miss out on undisputed status at super-lightweight in the most contentious fashion, also defeating two-time world champion Regis Prograis.
It was American Barboza Jr who ended up claiming the interim WBO title in a final eliminator at 140 pounds, earning a shot at full champion Teofimo Lopez, losing on points in New York in May.
Catterall vowed to respond quickly but there was plenty of surprise when he moved up to take a fight against Eubank, the nephew of Chris Eubank Sr and cousin of Chris Eubank Jr who is still unbeaten at 21-0 but faces a huge step up on Saturday night.
He was last in action in March in his hometown of Brighton, stopping Northern Ireland’s Tyrone McKenna in the 10th round to claim the IBF Inter-continental welterweight title.

Catterall vs Eubank prediction
It was a bit of a shock to see Catterall accept this fight, having competed at a higher level against the likes of Josh Taylor, Jorge Linares, Regis Prograis and Arnold Barboza Jr over recent years.
But ‘El Gato’ is looking to bounce back quickly with a statement win to follow a disappointing loss, as he did against Darragh Foley following that first controversial bout with Taylor.

Eubank is certainly no pushover and remains unbeaten, but has never fought above domestic level and this represents a significant step up from anything he has faced before.
Catterall is without a knockout win since 2019 and quick stoppages are not really his style, but he’ll be under pressure to achieve victory in emphatic fashion here.
We expect him to dominate from the outset and likely score a couple of knockdowns, but eventually win comfortably on the cards.
