CatStrand Players win 2020 Stewartry District Drama Festival in Castle Douglas


The Stewartry District Drama Festival recently took place at The Fullarton Theatre in Castle Douglas.

Held over three nights, it was adjudicated by Kevin Boland.

The winners were CatStrand Players and the runners-up were Crossmichael Drama Club. Kirkcudbright Youth Drama Troupe were the youth winners.

Results:

Adult festival - Winners (Martin McColl Trophy): CatStrand Players – Henna Night by Amy Rosenthal, directed by Brian Edgar.

Second place (Gourlay Memorial Salver and Bill Mckinnon Trophy for production): Crossmichael Drama Club – Shadow of Doubt by Gill McVey, directed by Derek McCartney.

Third place (Stewartry Trophy, Meg Imrie Trophy for audience choice, Donald Fullarton Quaich for best Scottish play): 88 Theatre – Ash by Anne McIntyre, directed by Anne McInture.

Robin McCroskrie Trophy for stage presentation and Lillias Thomson Trophy for best moment in theatre: Crossmichael Drama Club – Dead Dad Dog by John McKay, directed by Inga Blamire.

Youth festival - Winners (Lochside Youth Trophy, Tom Clement Memorial Trophy for best moment in theatre, Glenkens Trophy for audience choice): Kirkcudbright Youth Drama Troupe – Dead Dad Dog by John McKay, directed by Jo Jackson-Bonning.

Second place (Stewartry Youth Trophy, Fullarton Trophy for stage presentation): CatStrand Youth Players – Selfie by Bradley Hayward, directed by Katy Billington.

Third place (Aitchison Trophy): Newton Stewart Youth Players – The Secret by Joy Davis, directed by Margaret Shankland.
