Cats movie first reactions call it "way too horny" and "bewildering"

We knew this would be an experience.

Oscar-winning director Tom Hooper has adapted the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Cats for the big screen and sees the tale of dancing and singing cats feature an all-star cast including Jennifer Hudson , Idris Elba , Judi Dench , Taylor Swift , and James Corden .

The film follows a tribe of cats must decide yearly which one shall ascend to the Heaviside Layer and come back to a new life.

If that doesn't sound strange enough for you - then just read the reactions from those who have got to experience the film first hand.

It certainly sounds like it's worth seeing...

One wrote full of praise for the original song "Beautiful Ghosts" sung by Taylor Swift: "Having seen #CatsMovie , the Academy's failure to include 'Beautiful Ghosts' on the original song shortlist was a bad move. Obviously, voters left it off because 'Cats' hadn't screened yet. But the song -- a bookend to 'Memory' -- is great. I already can't get it out of my head."

One added: "waving goodbye to the last shreds of my sanity as the first CATS reactions roll in"

Bizarrely, another added: "It brings me no pleasure to report that CATS is way too horny for its own good"

Meanwhile, Broadway star Alan Henry wrote: "The CATS movie is the strangest, most bewildering, queerest, magical, and spectacular cinematic experience I have ever had. I am not sure what just happened but I know that it was something worth experiencing."

Jason Derulo in Cats (YOUTUBE/UNIVERSAL PICTURES UK)

However, another was not so keen: "the worst thing about cats is that jason derulo is the best part"

Finally, they added: i just want to stand on a table in the middle of the cats afterparty and scream “HOW CAN ANY OF YOU EAT AND DRINK LIKE EVERYTHING IS NORMAL AFTER WHAT WE JUST SAW?”

Guess it's another one to see for ourselves with!

Cats is released in UK cinemas on December 20, 2019.
