Catherine Zeta-Jones transforms into Morticia Addams as Netflix drop Wednesday trailer

Netflix fans have been given a first proper look at Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams in Tim Burton 's upcoming series Wednesday.

The epic teaser trailer, which is just over two minutes long, was released on Wednesday and shows Jenna Ortega as the dark and moody protagonist. The eight-part series will focus on Wednesday Addams and her years as a high school student at Nevermore Academy, where she attempts to master her psychic powers, stop a monstrous killing spree of the town citizens, and solve the supernatural mystery that affected her family 25 years ago—all while navigating her new relationships.

The trailer begins with Wednesday getting expelled from the Nancy Reagan High School after using her powers to brutally attack one of the school bullies named Dalton. "The only person who gets to torture my brother is me," she announces as she drops piranhas into the school swimming pool.

"I did the world a favour, people like Dalton shouldn't be allowed to procreate. Getting expelled was just a bonus," Wednesday adds as the water turns red. Viewers then get a good look at 52-year-old Catherine as she takes on the role of Wednesday's mother Morticia.

As they arrive at Nevermore Academy, Morticia tells her daughter: "Finally you will be among peers who understand you. Maybe you'll even make some friends." Viewers also get a proper glimpse of Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, who plays Nevermore school teacher Larissa Weems.

"Little did I know I'd be stepping into a nightmare full of mystery, mayhem and murder," Wednesday says, before adding: "I think I'm going to love it here!" Netflix fans immediately began to share their excitement once the trailer dropped, with one person tweeting: "FINALLY ABOUT TIME."

WEDNESDAY, a twisted new series from the mind of Tim Burton, drops on Netflix this autumn.
