Catherine Zeta Jones’ dog has died and she’s been receiving lots of sympathy

Catherine Zeta Jones has shared her heartbreak at the death of her family’s beloved pet dog.

The Hollywood star took to social media to reveal their snowy coloured mutt, Figaro, had passed away after ten years with the family.

The pet has been widely reported as a Maltese, although Catherine has previously described it as a similar breed, a Coton de Tulear.

Writing on her instagram account, the actor who hails from Swansea , said: “Thank you my darling Figaro for all the years of your friendship and love.

“We will miss you so very much, sleep tight little one”.

Catherine’s daughter Carys also turned to social media to share the news.

Alongside a black and white picture of Figaro, who was introduced to the family when Carys was aged six, she wrote “Will love you forever.”

Both Catherine and her husband, Hollywood legend Michael Douglas, were often seen walking Figaro when she lived in New York City.

Catherine, who won an Oscar for her role in musical Chicago in 2002, and has a home in Mumbles, has more than three million followers on instagram, many of whom sent messages of sympathy.

Russellfour wrote: "I’m so sorry for your loss! Your pup lived a wonderful life because of your love and caring".

Isabella.amara said: "Oh no, sweet Figaro, how we will all miss that boy. He helped me so much last summer through the loss of my precious Ziggy. Sending so much love".

And Beiselstein1974 added: "So sorry for your loss Catherine. They are a huge part of our families and hearts. Prayers for you and your family".
