Catherine Tyldesley says toe nails have been ripped off during Strictly training

Catherine Tyldesley is having a painful time during her Strictly Come Dancing training - not least because her toe nails have been ripped off.

The former Coronation Street star, 36, will be performing the Samba with partner Johannes and he hasn't been easy on her.

Revealing that it was his favourite dance to perform, Johannes said that their performance was "full of technique and everything you need".

He also said that they would be taking on characters for the dance and while Catherine said she loved the choreography she was struggling because she can't dance in heels.

Rylan then pointed out that she had a "small injury with a toe nail".

"Babe, RIP gel toes," Catherine joked. "I've lost a toe nail and it looks like a few others are going to go off the cliff."

She added: "It's the pressure of the dance shoes but it's a dancer's life babes."

Catherine also said that her young son Alfie had already become obsessed with Johannes because he was so tall and everyone in her family was so short.

"He's like, 'Daddy, he spun me round and he's so tall I almost went to the moon!'," she revealed as they shared a clip of her son in the training studio.

Catherine and Johannes scored just 20 last Saturday, so the pair will be hoping to improve that score tomorrow...
