Catherine Tyldesley asks Phillip Schofield for help as she coaches her son for first stage appearance with hilarious results

Former Coronation Street star Catherine Tyldesley has been coaching her four-year-old son for his first stage appearance, but unfortunately he doesn't seem as keen.

Catherine has shared a hilarious video of her boy Alfie cringing and placing his fingers in his ears as she plays Any Dream Will Do from the musical Joseph to him in the car.

Noticing his reaction to the musical Catherine laughs: "Alf! Sing!"

"Alfie you need to take rehearsals more seriously," she tells him.

The Walkden actress, who played Eva Price in Corrie for seven years, posted the comical video on her Instagram to her 503,000 followers, joking "he's clearly not mine."

And she pleaded with This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield for help.

Phillip, from Oldham, played Joseph in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 1991, taking over the role from Jason Donovan.

"When you’re coaching a 4 year old for his first stage appearance... but he hates #Joseph.... FUMIN... he’s clearly not mine. @schofe help me out babes" she pleaded.

As well as being known for her much-loved role on Corrie Catherine, 35, is a mezzo-soprano singer.

In 2016 the mother-of-one released an album Rise after being inspire and encouraged by her grandfather James Thornhill who had been a singer and entertainer himself.

Catherine, who left Coronation Street last year, was recently spotted at Peter Street Kitchen in Manchester while working on her latest filming project.

The actress has been working on new BBC comedy Scarborough, filmed in Stockport, with Salford comic Jason Manford.

And she embraced her love of musicals by sharing a video of the pair performing karaoke to the Dirty Dancing classic 'I've Had) The Time of My Life.

Catherine captioned the post: "@DerrenLitten babes... I feel #Scarborough the musical coming on!! @jasonmanford."

In the new comedy, penned by Benidorm writer Darren Litten, the pair play a couple of nearly-40-somethings giving their relationship another go five years after they split.
