Catherine Tyldesley 'absolutely fuming' at Krispy Kreme over obesity crisis

Catherine Tyldesley has hit out after Krispy Kreme tweeted it would give a free doughnut to anyone who could prove they had their coronavirus vaccination in the US.

The former Coronation Street actress took to Instagram to discuss the obesity crisis in the UK and warned she'd "lose her marbles" if Boris Johnson allowed similar promotion to go ahead in the UK.

Sharing the tweet with her followers, Catherine wrote: "Beyond f**ked up. I honestly give up... next Boris will reduce fast food again.

"Knowing full well how overwhelmed obesity problems make the NHS... funny that isn't it."

The actress, 37, then spoke directly to her followers: "We all know that for years now the UK has been in an obesity crisis, an obesity epidemic. The government don't seem to give two hoots," she argued.

"We also know that if you contract COVID and you are obese or you are overweight the struggle is much worse.

"But in America, if you wiggle around your vaccine passport you get a free Krispy Kreme doughnut.

"I swear to god Boris, if you follow suit and start reducing fast food again knowing how severely obesity affects this virus, I will lose my marbles."

Catherine, who starred as Eva Price in Corrie from 2011 to 2018, continued: "Why not reduce fruit and vegetables? Why not send out fruit and vegetables to families that can't afford it?"

"Do outreach: free, educational programmes for families that need to know more about nutrition.

"Leaving gyms until the last minute when statistically they are one of the lowest places that you can catch COVID.

She ended with: "My mind is blown. I'm absolutely fuming."

Fitness fan Cath, from Walkden, has previously opened up about her own past weight struggles.

She weighed 15 stone when she was 18-years-old and has previously admitted that she kept the now-famous photo of herself at her heaviest on her phone to remind her of her transformation over the years.

Cath has also previously tackled the issue of dieting on the ITV current affairs programme Tonight and investigated the pressure to have a ‘perfect’ body while separating dieting facts from the myths.
