Catherine Tate's Lauren returns from the dead as fans fawn over her reunion with David Tennant

Catherine Tate brought character Lauren back from the dead this evening in a skit that had fans overjoyed.

The sassy, foul-tempered teenager achieved fan favourite status on The Catherine Tate Show, but met her end when the series drew to a close more than ten years ago.

The last fans saw of Lauren, she was plunging to her - supposed - death after slipping in a canoe off of a waterfall.

But on tonight's The Big Night In she's reunited with Mr Logan - played by the brilliant David Tennant - and viewers couldn't get enough of it.

The skit saw David's character try to educate Lauren digitally, as they self-isolated amid the coronavirus crisis.

Lauren wore a face mask during the video call, fearful of catching a "computer virus."

Fans took to social media to show just how delighted they were.

One wrote: "David Tennant and Catherine Tate are legends #FACT."

Another penned: "Bloody love Catherine Tate, not laughed like that in so long!"

They also starred together on Doctor Who (BBC)

"Genuinely the best thing to come out of lockdown," a third reckoned, "Catherine Tate and David Tennant bringing Lauren back. Honestly, I'm so proud to be British rn. #BigNightIn."

A fourth went all in: "That was the best thing I've ever seen. #BigNightIn #davidtennant #catherinetate."

It's not the first time Catherine and David have appeared together on screen.

Not only did they do another skit for Comic Relief with the same characters in 2007, but starred alongside each other on Doctor Who.

Catherine played the companion to David's Doctor - a role he's set to reprise this evening.
